David's response has something to teach us about how we process our anger, and that we need to recognise God’s grace in providing a way out for us to deal with it. As in David’s case, that kindness might come in some dramatic form, but more often it may be simpler, like ‘a word in our ear’ from a brother or sister, or even a random comment from someone who has no idea about how we are feeling. And despite David's many excellent qualities, the episode also further underlines the need for another king of an altogether different order.
