McKeever (Mac) Conwell, II, is Managing Partner at RareBreed Ventures, a venture capital firm based in the Baltimore area. He has held various roles including as a software engineer, an entrepreneur in residence at the NewME Accelerator, a Fund Manager at Maryland Technology Development Corporation where he was a member of the Seed Investment Team and various advisory and consulting roles in the tech space.  RareBreed Ventures is a pre-seed fund that aims to invest in exceptional founders outside the large tech ecosystems earlier than everyone else.

Our conversation starts with Mac's upbringing and his early interest in engineering and tech.  We speak about role models and networks and how lack of them can be so much of a hindrance to underrepresented potential founders. We move to his time at the NewME Accelerator and how this opened his eyes to the power of networks as well as to some particularly inspiring other tech luminaries and acted as a motivator.

Mac is committed to not only seeding the next generation of founders but also to creating a nurturing ecosystem that enables such founders to thrive and develop their own networks.  He is also committed to educating VCs as to how to identify and develop rare talent.
