Today, I’m so excited to announce the Fifty Feminist States Podcast Fellows! 🥁 Drumroll please….

Mary L. Chang, L’Oreal Thompson Payton, and Angie Yglesias are our inaugural podcast fellows!

ICYMI, the Fifty Feminist States Podcast Fellowship is a 3-month paid opportunity to learn how to podcast and then record and produce an episode of Fifty Feminist States.

Mary L. Chang







Mary L. Chang is a Chinese-American freelance writer based in the Washington, D.C. area. She is a cell biologist by training and was successful in the nonprofit scientific publishing arena before realizing that she needed to find inner peace and her soul purpose. Mary is also an accomplished music journalist, having interviewed internationally-acclaimed artists and covered major music events around the world. She is excited to be a Fifty Feminist States Podcast Fellow in 2021 and to add her voice and experiences to the podcasting community, broadening its diversity. L’Oreal Thompson Payton is a Baltimore-bred, Chicago-based freelance writer, editor and motivational speaker dedicated to centering and celebrating Black Girl Magic in all she does. Angie Yglesias is a Miami-based writer, activist, and creator. Her work as a writer, photographer, and video producer has been featured in multiple print and online publications. Angie graduated from Florida International University with a degree in political science, and currently works for a community-serving grant program while freelancing for online magazines.
