Imagine finally getting the strength to wear a tapered cut with confidence and being told by another woman that the hairstyle doesn’t look good on you. Not because it doesn’t look good on you, but because she can’t imagine feeling confident wearing the same hairstyle on her head. Imagine the woman saying those things looks just like you. In interlude 5.0 , I discuss the duality of featurism and colorism across black women . Featurism refers to the favorability of more socially accepted features based on Eurocentric standards of beauty over Afrocentric ones.
