This week for episode sixteen, we are exploring the legendary Newport Folk Festival taking place in no other than Newport, RI.  The festival first began in 1959, and made a huge name for itself in 1965 when Bob Dylan played his imfamous "Dylan Goes Electric" set in which he abandoned his folk image and plugged in an electric guitar and blew everyone's minds!

 

Since then the festival has evolved into something no one could have imagined.  The three day music and arts festival now features talented individuals from all ranges of the musical spectrum.  This year's headliners include: The Flight of The Conchords, Patti Smith, The Alabama Shakes, Norah Jones, Elvis Costello, The Arcs, Ryan Adams, Ed Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes, and many more!
