On January 4, 2004, Joseph A. Ziemba launched BLEEDING SKULL! with a simple intention: to share a passion for obscure genre films and honor the filmmakers behind them. Since then BLEEDING SKULL! has become the authority on cinematic dispatches from the fringes. FANGORIA called BLEEDING SKULL! “The go-to encyclopedia for trash, bizarre, and shot-on-video horror cinema,” while VICE referred to it as “like a fever dream glimpse into parallel worlds.” Years of uncovering and celebrating outsider films led to the publication of BLEEDING SKULL! A 1980s TRASH-HORROR ODYSSEY (Headpress, 2013) and BLEEDING SKULL! A 1990S TRASH-HORROR ODYSSEY (Fantagraphics, 2021). In 2018, BLEEDING SKULL! teamed up with the American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) to launch a home video line that continues today, with releases such as THE MCPHERSON TAPE, LIMBO, and BOARDINGHOUSE. Now led by Ziemba and Annie Choi, BLEEDING SKULL! continues to explore and discover the depths of the underground, all with a joyful DIY spirit inspired by the films themselves.
