Season 4 Episode 1: Strangers

In the season four opener, we’re introduced to some new characters.

In the past, Jack and Rebecca return from California. Rebecca invites Jack to dinner with her parents. While trying to by an outfit for dinner, Jack meets his future best friend, Miguel. At dinner, Rebecca’s parents suck, as expected, and after dinner, Rebecca’s father tells Jack he will fight to keep them apart. As we all know, Jack wins this battle. 

In the present, Cassidy, who is a Marine stationed in the Middle East in the beginning of the episode. Later in her story we see her go home and end up having a difficult time adapting to civilian life. While she’s at a group therapy meeting, a brick in thrown in the window and Nicky steps into view. Now Kevin is off to Pennsylvania to save his uncle and possibly meet a new addition to his story.

Malik, a young father in Philadelphia, working hard to give his baby a good life. Although he has the support of his parents, he contemplates working for a shady character to ensure he can give his daughter the best life has to offer. Of course, his father is not having it, and reassures Malik that he and his wife will be there for him. At a cookout Malik meets Deja and sparks fly. 

Kate and Toby learn their child is blind. In the future, their son Jack, finds love, happiness, and lives Kate and Rebecca’s dream of becoming a singer.
