068: CJ Stopped Trying to Tithe

CJ writes, "I try to give what I can when I can; stopped trying to tithe years ago when I had larger sums of money—stepping out on faith—only to get totally destroyed financially. Last time I gave larger amounts regularly, I had a home emergency pop up that led to several overdraft charges in the checking account. I still have a joyful heart when I can give what I can."

The tithe is a spiritual issue, not a mathematical or economic one.

It is God's design that we are to be completely dependent on Him.

Deut. 14:23 that thou mayest learn to fear the Lord thy God always.

The tithe belongs to God—it is His, not ours.

Lev. 27:30 it is the LORD's: it is holy unto the LORD

It requires faith

Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11,Heb.10:38

Our flesh fights to operate by sight, especially in finances

Who is more capable of providing finances for us? God or ourselves?

Whose ways work better? Our ways or God's ways?

Isaiah 55:8-9

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

so are my ways higher than your ways,

and my thoughts than your thoughts.

When we do it our way and resist God's ways; we experience poor results.

Haggai 1:6

Ye have sown much, and bring in little

ye eat, but ye have not enough;

ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink;

ye clothe you, but there is none warm;

and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

Caution: Experience does not determine truth

"I tried it and it didn't work."

God's Word does not change, thus the truth does not change

 

Improve Your Finances:

Remember that this is a spiritual battle. Satan does not want your faith strengthened. God has designed the tithe for that very reason—the strengthening of your faith. Trust God by honoring Him and managing money His way.
