Life can sometimes just work out so fine, I had wanted to touch on the topic of coming out as LGBTQIA for a while and Anne Marie just found her way to me. So welcome to Anne Marie Zanzal, ordained minister who worked for years as hospital and hospice chaplain and grief counselor until she made a big decision. Today we will be exploring ‘ coming out’ after 50….

BIO

Rev. Anne-Marie Zanzal is a graduate of Yale Divinity School and an ordained minister in the United Church of Church. She has worked as a hospital and hospice chaplain as well as a grief counselor.
When she was fifty-two she came out as a lesbian and at that time she was married to her now ex husband for twenty-seven years. It was the hardest and the best thing she has ever done.

Because of this experience Anne-Marie now works with other women (cisgender, trans and non-binary folks comfortable in those spaces) who are in the process of coming out later in life. She also hosts her own podcast that tells the stories of other people who have pushed the boundaries of what society expects from queer people. Anne-Marie lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her wife architectural photographer Tonda McKay and their incorrigible dog Theo. Tonda and Anne-Marie are avid travelers and their next adventure is to Thailand in 2023.
