We shouldn't focus on comparing titles and measuring our success based on what is expected of a certain role or occupation. What matters is whether you feel truly aligned with what you are doing. In the end, titles really shouldn't matter.Individuals aligned with their purpose and truly fulfilled with their life's work can be a source of tremendous power and inspiration to those around them, just by being themselves.Don't fall into the trap of feeling the need to fit into society's definition of success. No outside source can ever define one's happiness. Look within and listen closely to your own heart to discover what resonates with you.Even when you feel stuck, you always have the ability to shift perspectives and allow yourself a different choice.Food for thought: Why do you do what you do? Be honest with yourself, without judgement, and observe the thoughts that surface.

“We are all here on a mission, and my hope is that Eye + I will be just one of many different pathways people take to define life and find purpose within themselves”

— Satsuki Shibuya

Try This

To further explore the idea of purpose, try logging your daily activities for 2 weeks:

Write down any activities you do that are aligned with work or your being.Don't look over what you wrote, and keep writing without judgement. After 2 weeks, look through your log. Circle the things that truly excite you, and underline anything that doesn't resonate. On a clean sheet of paper, create 2 columns. In the first column, list out the things you circled. In the second column, list out the things you underlined.Which list is longer? Do you see any patterns? What observations can you make about these activities?

The point of this exercise is to explore without judgement, and to visually see how you're spending your time. You can take the exercise one step further by developing each thing that resonates with you: write out why you did it, and what about the activity excites you.
