I talk about some of the foundations of lucid dreaming and dream recall in this episode. Being dream journalism, setting intentions and reality checks. 


First it is important that every day we take the time to write out our dreams from the previous night. This gives us a way to crystallize our dreams and store them into our long term memory. Because the truth of the matter is the problem is we tend to store our dream into our short term memory and not our long term memory.


Next setting intentions is a great habit to have, because when we make it the last thing we do in the day to tell ourselves to remember our dreams, this aligns our unconscious mind with our conscious motivations and makes it much more likely that we will remember to even try to remember our dreams the next morning.


Lastly making it a habit to perform reality checks in the waking state so that we carry the habit over into the dreaming state is a very effective way to induce lucid dreams. Think of it, if we did a check in a dream to see whether or not we were dreaming, wouldn't it be super easy to have a lucid dream.
