Amazon Go made its debut in Seattle on January 22nd, 2018 - it’s a grocery store without cashiers - or even automated checkout counters. Shoppers just put their groceries in their bags, and Amazon automatically bills them for what they take out of the store. It wasn’t exactly a deliverance from lineups though, as shoppers lined up outside the store and around the block for a chance to try it.

It’s raising all kinds of questions about what our future looks like when automation replaces retail jobs.
