Jerez is one of the oldest wine growing regions in the world, but in all honesty, I know very little about it. During the WSET Level 2 class, sherry was covered, but very briefly. I have not had many sherries, and I have promised myself that I will attempt to make myself more familiar with it.

So when I heard that there was going to be an episode of Raid (y)Our Cellar dedicated to Sherry, I knew it was one I had to listen in. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. As I learned, there is a Sherry for an occasion and unlike my initial thoughts, it is not all grandma’s sweet after dinner drink. From the dry and light, Fino wines, to the subtly bitter taste of a cold glass of Manzanilla or the sweetness and caramel hints of a Cream. Sherry truly is a wine that can be paired with any food pairing.

So unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle, sit down and enjoy the conversation. Sherry is a wine that is misunderstood by the market and I hope this episode helps you navigate your way through the confusing waters.
