By ourselves we aren't strong enough

Now let us get into our Hokmah for today. And the Bible says this, Peter answered and said unto him, though, all men shall be offended because of the yet will I never be offended. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say into thee that this night before the cock Crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. Peter said unto him, though I should die with thee yet will I not deny thee. Likewise, also said all his disciples.

Friends, this is so, so much like us. We don't realize how weak we are, I mean, he had no idea of how weak his flesh was. He thought he was strong enough, he thought he was stronger than he was. And so when Jesus said that they were going to flee from him. Peter's thinking, "I would never do that! I'm stronger than that, I'm better than that." And it's so funny that we can also think that we're strong, in and of ourselves, but it's often when we think we're strongest and we fall.

The Bible says, "Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall," and that is such a true statement. 

The moment we get so so puffed up in our own fleshly mind that we think we're strong enough to do what's right in our own strength is the moment Satan comes along and pushes us over and knocks us down and we realize, I don't have strength in myself, I'm not strong enough, the only way that I can stand is by the strength of the Holy Spirit, and the only way I can stand in the strength of the Holy Spirit is in humble in that humility that he gives us. In humility, we must lower ourselves and fully rely on his strength, not our own realizing that in our flesh dwells no good thing. 

And so friend, what can we take from this? 

May we stay humble. May you realize that maybe you've had victory in a certain area of your life for a certain amount of time. Don't get puffed up, stay humble realize that the only reason you've had victory for this long is because of the Holy Spirit's grace in your life. 

It is the Holy Spirit working these fruits out is not your own strength. In our own flesh there's nothing good. The only good that comes out of my life is Jesus, right? And when it comes to Addison Smith, If you enjoy anything about me I promise you it's not Addison, it's Jesus. Because there's nothing good about Addison. Addison is selfish and mean and that's who Addison is, but praise the Lord Jesus saved me and he can work through me his own fruits, and so friend, may we realize that in ourselves, we're weak, we're wrong we're wicked. But Jesus saved us from that sin and he will bring his strength to bear. As long as we stay humble enough for him to work. 

So friend, let us not be like Peter, who thinks we're stronger in and of ourselves, than we really are. May we trust the Holy Spirit and rely on him, moment by moment today to give us the strength we need to do right.
