Gender-based violence is a global phenomenon. However, its dominance and increasing rate in Africa (especially East and Southern Africa) cannot be overlooked. It was reported that one in three women experiences either intimate partner violence or no-partner sexual violence in their lifetime (WHO).
Malebogo ‘Max’ Malefhe is one of such victims. Max is a gender-based violence activist and an ex-national basketballer. She was the captain of Botswana’s first ever women’s basketball team.
In this episode of the EPS series, Max shares her surviving story of how she was shot eight times by her ex-lover. Her story will shake you, and leave you drenched in anger and emotions.
