Join Billy Jones, author of Everyday Folks books and creator of Everyday Folks Radio on BJ Speaks: An Interview with Phillip Lwiza, Accountant, Educator & Mentor. His journey started in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, where his parents were scientists. They relocated to Long Island, New York, when Phillip was seven years old, when his father was hired as a marine physicist professor at Stony Brook University.  At a young age, Phillip learned to adapt to a culture that was drastically different from his own. He went from being surrounded by people who looked and sounded like him to an environment where he was not only the first African many other kids had first seen in Stony Brook, but also he was the first black kid that many of his American peers had come across. Later, after graduating from prestigious universities and starting a career in accounting, Phillip realized that his true calling was far beyond the business industry. So he relocated to South Florida to discover it. Phillip's story serves as a reminder that we can do anything we want if we only try.
