After four successful Poirot mystery books and a string of others, Agatha Christie changed the formula with the fifth Poirot book. Instead of focusing on a mystery, Poirot is taken through a string of mini-mysteries, kidnappings, explosions and more. It's no longer about finding who did it, it's about surviving long enough to catch the bad guy.
