This episode I speak with teacher, comedian, indigenous rights activist and former broadcast journalist Paul Kuster. As a many of many hats we have a lot to discuss, and Paul shares a number of stories from his past and provides an update to his recent news story about taking the Calgary Catholic School District to task over systemic racism.

Paul first moved to Calgary from Regina in 1989 to pursue a career in education, and after 4 years he stumbled his way into broadcasting. For the next 12 years he would work as a broadcast journalist for Global, and also worked as a creative writer for CBC on the show North of 60. He then wrote his first scripted, which was produced by CBC and aired nationally.

Paul got away from writing after that, which he attributes to being "f***ed up" and through a journey of self discovery he learned how being a victim of the 60s scoop impacted his life and many other Indigenous peoples too. Paul's story has been featured in Global news recently as he takes the Calgary Catholic School District to task, and we discuss what led up to this and the outcome that he hopes to see.
