Sailing and Exploring the Dominican Republic with Kids

Meet Cole. He already has 20 stamps in his passport and is an integral part of a sailing team and he 's not even old enough to drive yet.

Cole's sailing partners are his mom, Krista and his father, Brad. Together, these three have explored many south Pacific destinations as backpackers and much of the Caribbean as sailors.

I spoke to them from the Dominican Republic, where Cole was just about to start school. Joining a local school for a while in the Dominican Republic is a great way for kids to make friends, learn more about the culture and practice the language in a real-world scenario.

In this Epic Education Radio interview, Brad and Krista talk about parenting and education on the boat and what a typical day is like for a sailing family (hint: there isn't a "typical" day). We also talk about the real risks and rewards of a sailing life, including stories of danger and triumph on the high seas.

Listen in if you're interested in boatschooling, sailing with children, and what it's like anchoring in the Dominican Republic with kids.

Listen in! And please share!
