Dr. Gilman Whiting, (Associate Professor of African American and Diaspora Studies, Director of the Scholar Identity Institute, Director of Graduate Studies) was the instructor for an elective seminar entitled "Capoeira: Afro-Brazilian Race, Culture, and Expression" from which I learned much.
