The issue behind the question in Chs 8-10: what is true maturity?
True maturity understands how the cross reorders our priorities:
v1-3 The purpose of knowledge …is love (not pride)
- “Your knowledge doesn't show what you think it shows!”
v4-6 The goal of life …is our Father (not our freedom)
- “God’s uniqueness doesn’t mean what you think it means!”
v7-13 The danger we worry about …is losing souls (not looking weak)
- “Your message doesn't say what you think it says!”
