Terrie Silverman, MFA, is a Writer/Performer, Director, Story Coach and founder of Creative Rites Workshops & Coaching. She’s guided thousands of aspiring to professional writers and actors, as well as Organizations, Business Owners, Coaches and Thought Leaders to UNCOVER THEIR STORY GOLD. Terrie is a passionate story advocate, because stories are not only the way we understand ourselves, each other and the world, but the most effective way to profoundly connect, learn, inspire and make an impact. She knows that when people are given encouragement and a safe, nurturing space, they’re able access their wild creativity and develop powerful, authentic stories. She also understands the fears, doubts and the inner-critic that get in the way. Terrie would get paralyzed with fear, self-loathing and perfectionism whenever she had to write a report for school, and then would eat so many donuts she thought she would die. It wasn’t until she met a playwrighting teacher years later, who took her under his wing and became her Annie Sullivan at the water-pump, helping her to get what was in her head onto paper, that she discovered she could write. This led to the biggest shock of her life-- being accepted into a graduate writing program, getting straight A’s and winning the Jerome Lawrence Playwriting award. In this episode we discuss writing, performing, creative rites, directing and the importance of storytelling.
