In this episode of The Empowering Dietitians Podcast, host and dietitian supervisor Jess Serdikoff Romola addresses one of the biggest frustrations within the profession of dietetics: the sheer number of people who are not dietitians who insist on doling out nutrition advice. While some of this advice is innocuous, and some actually legitimate, a lot of it flies in the face of what we, as dietitians, know to be true and helpful -- yet they're the ones receiving all of the attention and respect instead of us, and it pisses us off, right?? In this episode, Jess shares her potentially surprising take on the situation, reminding us that there is a fine line between asserting our expertise and falling into a supremacist habit of attempting to assert dominance over another group by wielding our credential as a source of power and superiority. Yeah...she went there. Are you really surprised, though?
