In this episode of The Empowering Dietitians Podcast, host and dietitian supervisor Jess Serdikoff Romola addresses an issue that is often swept under the rug in the field: practitioners who, themselves, struggle with eating disorders and disordered eating. For too long, The Academy has either denied the existence of this issue or, more recently, claimed there is nothing to be done about it. Jess has been told repeatedly not to discuss it, that it wasn't appropriate, all the while seeing the impact the secrecy and shame was having on her colleagues...and herself. She talks in this episode about speaking her truth, not being afraid to rock the boat, and what we as a profession can be doing to better support each other and future generations of students to have a healthier relationship with food and their bodies.
