Kingdom Leadership

Mark 10:41-45

Synopsis: We struggle with the “kingdom language” of the Bible for many reasons.  Our first challenge comes because we happen to live in a democratic republic and thus have a vote.  Another big stumbling block for us is the business/leadership model that permeates our society.  We talk freely of “presidents,” “CEOs,” “Board of Directors,” and the list goes on and on.  “Kingdom Leadership,” as described in the New Testament, operates on “Kingdom” principles (Mark 10:41-45).

We pray to God, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”  Today I want to talk about a few of the issues Kingdom Leadership entails.  God the Father rules the Kingdom, Jesus is the paradigm for Kingdom Leadership, and The Holy Spirit gifts and energies believers in their task.  Therefore: 1. We are all in this together.  2. The Holy Spirit gifts individuals for service to the body and mission of the church.  3. Challenge stretches all of us to bring the Kingdom of God into our experience of life and church.  Believers are not given the option of sitting on a bench.
