Grow Your Power: Know Your Finances for a Prosperous 2022”

BIO:  Penelope Boehm is the owner of Boehm Business Services which provides bookkeeping services primarily in the non-profit sector. She graduated from Barnard College and has a Master’s degree from New York University. Although she never had any formal education in “bookkeeping”, after her son was born, she turned her self-taught knowledge into forming her own bookkeeping service so that she could be home with her family. She and her staff of six now handle roughly 80 clients each year. 

The advent of computer programs to track money has made budgeting and financial planning accessible to individuals and not just companies. Women historically have lost their power in a relationship, family, or business by not being sufficiently conversant with the money flow in their lives, and sadly accounting professionals still often treat women -even business owners - as second-class citizens, either making decisions for them or speaking only to the men involved. Penelope feels that it’s important to help women understand the financial information that affects their lives or their businesses.
