In the first episode of 2021, I’ll be chatting to street musician N.C Lawlor. I first saw Niall playing as a one-man band in Whelans Dublin a couple of years ago and was mesmerised by his slide guitar style. He has held many residencies in Dublin City over the years including Whelans Dublin and has played on stage with Shane McGowan on the Late Late Show, rocked out with Mundy and has opened for many acts including Sea Sick Steve, Jim Lauderdale, James Burton, Kieron Kane and Sam Shepard to name a few.
He has also toured internationally playing alongside the God Father of ‘Outlaw Country’ Billy Joe Shaver in Texas where he was filmed for a Texas Roadhouse live episode at the legendary Luckenbach, Texas. He also appeared in Southern California, Oregon and most recently Vermont and has played Willie Nelsons infamous festival twice.
His musical style ranges from tender ballads to punk blues with influences from artists such as Finbar Furry to John Lee Hooker. Over lockdown, N.C has been exploring new sounds, musical ideas and instruments and hopes to release some music in the near future.
