The RotoHeat rookie profile and NFL outlook for upcoming rookie wide receiver Skyy Moore who is set to be drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Is Skyy Moore this years sleeper rookie Wide Receiver?

So the hype of the 2022 NFL combine is as alive and strong as it has ever been. There were some surprises good and bad in this annual event. There were risers and fallers who either put the NFL on notice by lifting their draft value or lowering it with their performance or measurements. One rookie prospect caught my eye and has been gaining some buzz since the combine and it made me go back and check out the rising star named Skyy Moore.

Skyy Moore Rookie Wide Receiver

Prep & College profile

Skyy Moore, per 24/7 sports was rated a 3-star prospect playing his high school football at Shady side academy. An interesting note I observed when I checked in his prep career, Moore played quarterback and cornerback in high school. So to see that he would eventually enroll in the 2019 class at the University of Western Michigan I was more interested in Moore since he never played wide receiver in high school.

As a Freshman, Moore was able to use his athleticism and versatility to transition to playing wide receiver for the Broncos. Putting up an impressive 51 receptions, 802 yards, and 3 touchdowns respectfully. The 2020 season was shortened unfortunately due to the pandemic but Moore came back with a purpose in what would be his final season at Western Michigan. Becoming the focal point of the offense Moore was able to nearly double his production. 95 catches, 1,292 yards, and a total of 10 touchdowns were enough for Moore to declare for the 2022 NFL draft.

NFL & Fantasy Outlook

I have to admit when studying Moore’s profile and tape I began to like him a lot. For one, he was able to change positions in college, and in 3 seasons be on the cusp of being drafted into the NFL at that position? In my opinion, that is Impressive. Even though he’s a little smaller than you would want for a wide receiver, Moore showed he played bigger than his size and frame would show on tape. He has above-average route running with the ability to pretty much run every route in the offensive scheme. If you ask me right now I would say Moore would be best in the slot to take advantage of his quickness and great hands. Moore showed countless times of making the contested catch or going up and catching the ball at its highest point to make a big play. If you had to have any concern with Moore’s game, other than his size and frame would be his raw ability to manipulate his defender and create separation. He would often use the same move coming out of his routes and his defender would be on him to ultimately Moore making a spectacular catch. Was it his quarterback play? Maybe but it’s something to think about when evaluating Moore.

Lastly, the “icing on the cake” for me was the NFL combine. Moore measured in officially at 5’95”, 195 pounds, and 10’ hands. He ran a 4.41 40 yard dash which surprised some scouts, 34.5” vertical capped off with his 10.05” broad jump. In the individual drills, he was able to take advantage of showcasing his smooth quick route running and great hands. Skyy Moore should be a very interesting rookie prospect you should monitor over the next month or so as the draft approaches. If his stock keeps rising he may be a sneaky day 2 pick in the NFL draft and that would be big-time for Moore. For fantasy, We all know landing spots and opportunities matter for sleeper picks in your 2022 rookie drafts. “The Skyy’s the limit” lol no pun intended for Moore if he continues to develop as a solid Wide receiver. Look for Moore to be a value and a player to add to your roster this upcoming season.

Thank you for reading this breakdown of Skyy Moore. Where do you have him ranked amongst rookie wide receivers in the 2022 NFL draft?
