Dune Movie Review #2: Caladan and House Atreides (Spoiler Discussion)

We're back for the second part of our in-depth movie review sub-series on Dune Talk show. Special guest Mark (from DuneInfo) returns as we finish our overall reactions, after watching the film many, many times. Then the scene-by-scene breakdown begins, with Chani’s opening narration that introduces the planet Arrakis and the Fremen people.

The first 24 minutes of Dune: Part One primarily focuses on Caladan, homeworld of House Atreides. In this episode we cover the main characters, set design, and how the movie's early narrative sets up the power dynamics within the Imperium. We also engage in debate regarding the merit, or lack thereof, when it comes to some of the expository scenes. Reminder that we are in full spoiler mode for these discussions.
