Georgia Bulldogs beat writer Seth Emerson joined Dukes & Bell to talk all things Dawgs, and get us ready for their big game against Auburn.

Seth said it’s fair to ask the question is Georgia’s offense reached its potential yet this season.

“They lost a game that nobody expected them to lose in part because of the offense having a really bad day.” Emerson said “The offense is inconsistent if you look at their stat rankings, the ultimate results in points overall for the season they look respectable you look at it and say well are we criticizing Jake Fromm too much, are we criticizing James Coley and everyone too much. But  if you look at individual games, if you look at how good they look at times like against Florida, but then when they struggle for periods of time you say they’re clearly not rolling on all cylinders at all times the way they should, there is a potential for this offense that they’re not reaching at all times.”

Emerson talked about just how good he thinks Georgia’s defense really is.

“They’re Bama of the days when Kirby was Bama’s defensive coordinator and Bama is no longer that Bama, Bama doesn’t have the defense, which is why they’re gonna be watching the SEC championship from home this year.” Emerson said “Georgia has the better defense, perhaps the best defense in the SEC, with Georgia’s defense are they elite? We have to see how they do against really good offenses, I pointed this out in my postgame column the other day, they’ve now faced four backup quarterbacks, five if you count Kyle Trask who obviously wasn’t their starter when the season started have they faced an a team that can run and pass well, No.  They might not face that against Auburn, or Texas A&M, or Georgia Tech so the defense is gonna have to really raise its level when it gets to LSU game but in that game I still think Georgia has a good enough defense to give its offense a chance, the question is whether the offense can come through. They showed against Florida they can do well against a good defense, but again it has been inconsistent other than Florida they haven’t really had a start to finish complete performance, at least Georgia’s offense.
