Dukes and Bell open the show talking about the Braves signing Cole Hamels. The Braves have been busy this offseason and they continue to stay busy as they’ve signed Left hander Cole Hamels to a one year deal worth $18 million.  Carl Dukes said Braves fans should like this move. “I immediately thought great signing.” Dukes said “Simply because of the experience he brings, obviously we’ve got a couple of young guys on this staff we want to mentor and bring up the right way. This is why you should like the signing if you’re a Braves fan, the premise is he brings an invaluable amount of experience and playoff experience to this roster, he also is a guy who last year before he gets hurt and he was still suffering from that injury when he came back. Early on last season we weren’t watching Cole Hamels, but he had a 2.98 era in 17 starts, he was really good until he got hurt, so you should look at this and say alright the Braves got an experienced guy and more importantly we got an innings eater. This guys has been in the majors 14 years and outside of 3 season he’s gone 150 innings for most of his career and that is something this team lacked last year.”   Bell talked about not being impressed by the Hamels signing.  “It’s ok, it’s not the worse, but it’s not what I wanted.” Bell said “What most Braves fans would say it’s impossible to get a Gerrit Cole, then you have guys like Madison Bumgarner who we talked about for much of last year at the trade deadline because it’s realistic and he’s serviceable. I just don’t know what you’re going to get with Cole Hamels at this point he’s like the thin Bartolo Colon, he’s had some great years, he’s had some years where he’s not that effective but he doesn’t really move the needle for me.”
