Duke Basketball Corner

(2019 Offseason, Ep. 1)

Shades of Grayson

Despite typically rooting for all players in general, I've always done my best to evaluate individuals on the pod based on actual basketball analysis, meaning Grayson Allen's "extracuricular activities" have been avoided other than my expert opinions such as "stop doing that!" after each. Unfortunately his most recent incident with Grant Williams in Summer League (yes, SUMMER LEAGUE) finally convinced me to discuss his timeline of "events," though in as rational a way as possible i.e. polar opposite of damn near every other Grayson conversation out there. If you're listening for confirmation bias, don't bother. If you want hot takes with an us vs. them (duke/non-duke) mentality, don't bother.

Viewing Grayson through a prism of extremes, despite the popularity of doing so, doesn't interest me. His behavior has definitely framed him as extremely polarizing (to his own admission) but he's still a human being, and people are complex. I'm not judging, defending, or suggesting some sort of definitive solution, and in discussing the topic, there's no goal to be right or wrong.
