Matthew 6:9-13 -
We often confess that living is hard—even Christian living is hard. Sometimes especially living the Christian life is hard. Where is the rub? How does that sync with Jesus saying that his yoke was easy and his burden light (Matthew 11:30)?
Is it hard to be good when we are people infected with sin? Sure! If the goal is being good. Is it hard to love God when we are desperately trying to love ourselves? Yes! Especially if we are not conscious of being loved. Is it hard to believe that God’s grace abounds where sin thrives? Uh huh! It just doesn’t seem right. Does the lure of sinful pleasure, irresponsible behavior, and independence continue to exist? Of course! So, what does salvation include when it comes to daily living?
