Most of the time when a a partner in a committed relationship is cheated on, they must make decisions about their role in that relationship. When a person compromises or makes decisions based on fear and insecurity, they are left in a place of limited self-forgiveness. So although we sometimes "make a big deal " about forgiving the cheating partner, the relationship that truly requires the amends is the one had with one's self. Whether we stay or leave, self forgiveness is a requirement for healing when infidelity is introduced in a relationship.
