Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #570 is an hour of visionary, acoustic improvised music played by the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, 4- and 8-string ukulele, acoustic guitar, mandolin and harmonica, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on Native drum and congas.  Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts on the first day of April, 2024, today’s show begins with the heavy groove, clever lyrics and imaginative chord figurations of “Nature At Her Best” before sliding into the uptown, Ray Charles minor blues of “Let’s Ride The Waves”, an epic, circular jazz rock piece with fine vocals and blues harp from Mariam.  “Always” begins with an evocative Native flute fanfare from Mariam that flows into a series of touching melodies and chord figurations, with Mariam returning to lyrical Native flute runs to give her lovely, sparse vocal shape and context.  “Windy Breeze” is a strikingly pretty, unsettled sky song made rich with Mariam’s 8-string ukulele and floating, unsettled piano chords from Bob to support the windy vibe and “The Universe Is Working On Our Behalf” is a gorgeous, austere song with a beautiful, soaring melody from Mariam set in a richly minor soundstage, filled with echoes and mystery.  “Along The Strands Of Life” again features Mariam chiming 8-string ukulele and soaring melody above a sprightly conga groove from Craig and Bob’s endlessly extrapolative piano and “Let’s Circle Around” closes today’s show with a powerful, spiritual suite of musical movements all supporting Mariam’s powerful, inspiring message of peace.
