Adam Thomas and Thomas Mariani are reading into some Stephen King adaptations this week. Joining them is special guest from Horror News Radio & King super fan Dave Dreher! The trio first dig into the good feature 1987's The Running Man, a sci-fi actioner that takes the very basic premise of a King novel and turns it into an Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle. But what a glorious vehicle for Schwarzenegger action it is! Then, the bad feature that more than makes up for the lack of King faithfulness... in sacrifice of quality: 1986's Maximum Overdrive. The horror take on machines rising to seek revenge on humans is Stephen King's first and only directorial effort... and there's a pretty clear reason why. Listen for all the adaptational blasphemy and Arnold one liner love here!
Special thanks to previous guest Caitlin Turner of Lost in a Sea of Stories for assisting on the opening.
