Attorney Benjamin Crump

Benjamin L. Crump is a principal with the Tallahassee firm of Parks & Crump, LLC. Recently, Attorney Crump received the distinction as the first African-American to be named Philanthropist of the Year from the Association of Fundraising Professions in recognition of his donation of $1,000,000.00 to the Legal Services of North Florida. Attorney Crump was distinguished amongst Florida Trend’s Legal Elite and awarded the NAACP Legal Defense Fund Bootstrap Award in tribute to his enduring pursuit of justice, his outstanding advocacy on behalf of many who are without means of redress and for leaving footprints on the sands of time that others can follow. He received his Bachelor’s degree in 1992 in Criminal Justice from Florida State University, where he served as two-term Black Student Union President, President of the Order of Omega and the inaugural President of the Burning Spear. He then earned his Juris Doctorate from the FSU College of Law in 1995 and will become the first African-American Chairman of the Law School Board of Directors for the 2009 administration.

Rep. Corrine Brown (D-FL)

Rep. Corrine Brown, a Democrat, was elected to Congress from the Third District of Florida in 1992. She is a public servant who prides herself on delivering the goods and services of the federal government to her constituents.

A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Congresswoman Brown served in the Florida House of Representatives for ten years before coming to Washington. Congresswoman Brown attended the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree. She also received a Master’s Degree and an Education Specialist Degree from the University of Florida. and an Honorary Doctor of Law Degree from Edward Waters College. She has been a faculty member at Florida Community College of Jacksonville, the University of Florida, and Edward Waters College.

Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL)

Rep. Frederica Wilson represents the 17th District of Florida, which includes the counties of Miami-Dade and Broward. The 17th District is minority-majority, with a 58% Black and 28% Hispanic population.


Wilson successfully ran for a seat in the Florida State House of Representatives, where she served as Minority Whip for four years until 2002. From 2002 to 2010, she served in the Florida State Senate, where she served as Minority Leader Pro Tempore and as Minority Lead Whip. She soon became known as the “Conscience of the Senate” for her willingness to tackle historically ignored issues. Her achievements include working with Republican Governor Jeb Bush to remove the Confederate flag from the State Capitol, mandating HIV/AIDS testing for newly-released prisoners, opposing high-stakes standardized testing , pushing for a ban of the term “illegal alien” in state public records, and partnering with Republican Governor Charlie Crist to restore voting rights for ex-felons.


In Congress, she serves on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, where she is focused on America’s role on the global stage, particularly in Haiti and the Caribbean. As a member of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, she is committed to bringing jobs back to our communities and increasing STEM (Science, Technology, Energy, and Math) funding for our schools.
