Previous Episode: Guy Gilchrist

Much like Steve Austin, the Six Million Dollar Man, Chuck Austen can just about do it all. He's been a writer, artist, creator, animator, and producer over his roughly 40 years in entertainment. But Chuck started as a comics artist, starting at Eclipse and had a short stint on Alan Moore's formative Miracleman series. He subsequently did more mostly indie work before taking a comics hiatus to work on King of the Hill. Roaring back with Marvel Knights, he illustrated the initial run on the new Elektra series and then wrote and illustrated U.S. War Machine, which was controversial for its violence and politics. He transitioned to mostly a writer from there, taking on Uncanny X-Men, Captain America, The Avengers and more at Marvel, and then Superman: Metropolis and Action Comics for DC.

After creating comics of his own (like Edgeworld and Flywires), Chuck is mostly back in animation now, producing shows like Dragons: The Nine Realms and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. You can follow him at his website: chuckleausten.com.
