In 1919, Irish candidates who had been elected to the UK's Parliament decided not to sit in Westminster and instead assembled as ‘Dáil Éireann’. The first Dáil met on 21 January 1919 in the Mansion House in Dublin city. This documentary examines the origins and achievements of the first parliament of the Irish Republic.
