In this first of a two-part series, Drs. McGovern and Mullally trace the history of the Opioid Crisis including what is an opioid drug, information about addiction, available data on current opioid use, and factors that have contributed to the way opioid drugs are being abused today.
Medical Trivia (Answer at 40:30) – If you look at the amount of opioids it takes to cause a fatal overdose, swallowing morphine the size of a pea is enough. By comparison, how much fentanyl does it take to cause a fatal overdose? What about carfentanyl or sufentanyl?
