News:

The date on when DIsneyland can open again is even more up in the air than ever before. California Governor Gavin Newsom, outlining his plan to reopen the state, said that mass gatherings of hundreds or thousands of people would likely be banned at least through the summer. This means that Disneyland may not welcome guests again until August or September. – https://www.micechat.com/256922-disneyland-reopening-unlikely-through-august-as-california-rules-out-mass-gatherings/ and https://blogmickey.com/2020/04/disneyland-summer-reopening-uncertain-after-recent-comments-from-governor-on-mass-gatherings/

With the parks opening date uncertain at this point, Disneyland has cancelled the Grad Nite events for this year. Grad Nites were scheduled throughout May and early June. – https://www.micechat.com/257446-disneyland-update-its-about-time/ and https://wdwnt.com/2020/04/all-disneyland-grad-nite-2020-parties-cancelled-through-june-13-due-to-coronavirus-covid-19-pandemic/

In Disney’s letter to furloughed cast members, they state that they do not anticipate being closed more than 6 months. That would still have the parks closed until September. – https://blogmickey.com/2020/04/disney-doesnt-anticipate-a-closure-of-more-than-6-months/

The furloughs that began on April 19th impacted over 100,000 cast members. This is reported to be saving Disney $500 million per month across the theme parks and hotels around the world. The company has not made any changes to the $1.5 billion dividend to shareholders in July, or to the bonuses going to executives like Bob Chapek. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/04/disney-furloughs-to-save-company-500-million-a-month-during-extended-parks-closure-executive-bonuses-not-cut/

With the closure of the parks and hotels – not just at Disneyland, but all around the Anaheim Resort District, a video was put together by the Anaheim Police Department and shared on Facebook. The video shows the area businesses lighting up the night to show images of hope and inspiration. The Disneyland Hotel was featured with lights turned on in the rooms in the shape of a heart and Mickey ears. Other locations spelled out “hope”, “strong”, “safe” and even some happy faces. The Anaheim PD even spelled out Hope in squad cars in a vacant lot. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/04/disneyland-hotel-brightens-night-sky-with-heart-and-mickey-during-extended-park-closure/ and https://www.facebook.com/AnaheimPD/videos/602084617059937/
