In this episode, Angie and Steffi talk all about the “Carol” era in Cate Blanchett & Rooney Mara’s career. This is part 1 of 2 of our era breakdown episodes, and part 2 of 3 of our “Carol” episodes.

We discuss what was going on at their careers during this time and how the roles of Carol & Therese ultimately contribute to their onscreen personas. We then get into Patricia Highsmith and tackle two big, controversial questions concerning “Carol”: 1) Is it okay for straight actresses to play lesbians onscreen? 2) Is Carol a predatory lesbian?
