Stress is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the world.

This is not my opinion but the consensus of a 2015 meta-analysis study published in the Frontiers of Immunology.

It concluded that stress-induced intestinal permeability and the leaking of endotoxins as a result of that, leading to chronic low-grade inflammation, was the number one cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide.

Stress is the most toxic thing that happens to our system at the cellular level. It is a big driver of dysfunction by negatively impacting our microbiome, which we noted is closely connected to the immune system.

In addition to stress, overuse of antibiotics and pesticides are some of the other big things that harm our microbiome and, in extension, our immune system, making us vulnerable to chronic illnesses.

But as we always say in this podcast, there is HOPE.

There are some simple steps you can take to improve the diversity of your microbiome to protect yourself.

Kiran Krishnan articulately takes us through this process and advises on some things we can do. Tune in!
