Denny McLain was on top of the sports world in 1968. Pitching with the Detroit Tigers, McLain won 31 games and helped lead his team to a World Series title. Along the way, he added the AL MVP and Cy Young to cap off one of the greatest seasons for a pitcher.

But just five years later at the age of 29, he was out of baseball completely.
