On November 16, 1999, 24-year-old Cherica Adams was shot while driving her car in Charlotte, North Carolina. When she made the 911 call just after midnight, she identified Carolina Panthers wide receiver Rae Carruth as the driver of the car she was following when someone pulled up next to her and began shooting.
This was the beginning of an unthinkable story and a ultimately a murder trial that involved the former first round NFL draft pick, a hitman, and an arrest in the back of a trunk in west Tennessee.
On this episode of the show, we introduce our first true crime minisode to tell you the story of Rae Carruth nearly 21 years after that horrible day.
