On the heels on Peyton Manning being enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, we decided to cover maybe his most memorable moment as an NFL player for the podcast.

Today we go back to the 2006 AFC Championship in the RCA Dome that featured two of the best quarterbacks of all-time, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. This New England Patriots team had won 3 of the past 5 Super Bowls and were looking to knock the Indianapolis Colts out of the playoffs once again.    For Manning, this game was all about getting over that hump and beating the Brady/Belichick led Patriots. On the line was a ticket to the Super Bowl to play the Bears, who had already punched theirs.    In this episode we discuss: Where the Manning vs. Brady rivalry was at this point How both teams advanced to the conference championship BOB SANDERS and the media's love affair with him The pressure on Peyton Manning to "win the big one" The Patriots dearth of offensive playmakers around Brady and what it led to Mike Vanderjagt reference Mike bringing up the Jets parallels which will make you laugh The Alabama connection Ben makes that Mike didn't see coming

We'll cover all this and more on this episode. If you want to watch the game as it originally aired on CBS in 2007, check out the full video on our website here: https://distantreplaypodcast.com/ep-88-2006-afc-championship-new-england-patriots-vs-indianapolis-colts/
