Prof Michael Rovatsos is Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Edinburgh, and Director of the Bayes Centre, the University’s innovation hub for Data Science and AI. He also represents the University at the Alan Turing Institute, the UK’s national institute for Data Science and AI. In his research he develops AI algorithms and architectures to support collaboration between humans, e.g. in sharing economy, electronic commerce, or logistics applications. In recent years, much of his work has focused on ethical aspects of AI, primarily through the development of methods for designing fair and diversity-aware AI algorithms that respect the values of human users.
