Brian Burke is a hockey lifer. First serving as the Whalers GM and selecting Chris Pronger, then off to Vancouver, where he worked magic to select the Sedin twins. In 2007, he put together a Stanley Cup winning Anaheim Ducks squad with a handful of hall of famers on the roster. In Toronto Burke was both president & general manager of the Maple Leafs. His most recent stop was as president of hockey operations in Calgary. If that’s not enough for you, he was also the GM of the 2010 Olympic Gold Medal winning Canadien squad. Now he works as an analyst with Sportsnet and on Hockey Night in Canada.

His book, Burke’s Law: A Life in Hockey, is available for preorder and comes out in October.

Tripp and Brian dig into some of the most famous draft floor trades, what’s wrong with the NHL draft lottery and how unimaginable tragedy has helped to shape his life.
