It’s a new year, but the same ol’ tangents as Matt, Wheels and Meehan look back on what we played over the holidays and ahead to the first tabletop releases of 2021. We get traditional with chess and hnefatafl, before popping to Middle-earth in War of the Ring and the depths of the galaxy in Cosmic Encounter Duel. There’s our thoughts on Slay the Spire being turned into a board game, the cancellation of the Battleship Galactica miniatures game and the questionable naming of Embryo Machine. We also talk about keeping things spooky in horror RPGs, whether the six-sided die is overused and our wishlist of historical figures to invite to the table.
