In this installment of the Detroit Worldwide Podcast, Marquis connects with former University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball star and all-time leading scorer, Rashad Phillips about Detroit sports and his rise to stardom as a heralded athlete during the 90s and early 2000s.

Rashad also discusses his longtime friendship with the late Kobe Bryant as well as his commitment to mentoring the next generation of athletes.

About Rashad:

Rashad Phillips is the all-time leading scorer in men's basketball history at the University of Detroit Mercy totaling 2,319 points over a four-year career. Once dubbed by Kobe Bryant as "the best player never drafted by the NBA", Rashad enjoyed an illustrious career both in the NBA D-League (now G-League) and overseas where he earned three scoring titles and an MVP during stints in Italy, Latvia, and Saudi Arabia.

He retired from professional basketball in 2010 and during that year he was inducted into the University of Detroit Mercy Hall of Fame. His jersey number was also retired in 2010.

Since retirement, Phillips has given selflessly to the game of basketball by passing down knowledge to the next generation of players including Atlanta Hawks' rising stars, Trae Young and Cam Reddish. He has also given NBA draft insight to networks and media outlets such as Fox Sports.

Most recently, he relaunched his official website, SportsTalk 2319 (named after his total points scored in college), where he evaluates NBA draft prospects and college basketball players. He is also the co-host of No Agendas, an online basketball show with NBA world champion, Kendrick Perkins.
